Solution:

To the error: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file : While Installing K2Mart 2.1 - Problem after install : No K2Mart menu item in component menu.

The Framework:
  • Joomla 2.5.4 and 
  • Virtuemart 2.0.6 
  • K2Mart v2.1 on
  • K2_v2.5.7

Look in the K2Mart Setup archive (.zip file) - Notice the name of the xml file is K2Mart.xml. Change the name of that to manifest.xml. You will have to unzip and rezip your K2Mart archive to do this.

In the administrator - in Extension Manager - Click on manage - In the search bar type K2Mart - You will see all the remnants of your failed install. Uninstall all of it. ( If you have access to phpmyadmin - look in you db - make sure the entry in &&_menu for K2Mart was removed! )

Now re install the K2Mart v2.1 archive.
